BBR Players provide entertainment

Now in their third season, the Black Butte Players provided two sold-out evenings last week at the Black Butte Ranch (BBR) Lodge.

Comfortably seated on the lawn behind the Lodge, with Lake Phalarope in the background, the large audience was treated to four short plays each evening. They also indulged in Chef David Berger’s lavish buffet.

The acting group has evolved from reader-theater into more traditional theater mode with movement and props. They presented Honored Guests, a spoof about guests and how happy you are to see them come and how happy you are to see them leave. Many in the audience were laughing and shaking their heads in agreement.

Duet for Bear and Dog presented talking animals as well as humans. Mimi Miller and Lynda Sullivan traded lines in Off the Rack, a look at clothing choices that people make to match their lifestyle. A special thanks was inserted in the program for assistance from Sisters Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store for providing the rack of fashionable clothes.

Finally, Lynn and Dave Talbot joined Pat Kmiec in performing No Dogs Allowed, a comedy set at a well-known resort.

Roger Gabrielson served as MC for the show as well as savoring desserts. Behind the scenes, Jerry Christopherson created the programs and posters for the show and Bruce Gibbs and Roger Sinclair worked on props.
