ODOT updates Sisters on roundabout

Gary Farnsworth, of the Oregon Department of Transportation Region 4, has announced that the contract negotiations with Knife River have been successfully concluded for construction of the roundabout at Highway 20 and Barclay Drive.

Farnsworth said that ODOT is very pleased to be working with Knife River, the same company that did the Cascade Avenue reconstruction.

All of the land acquisitions have been completed and the way is clear for construction to begin in February. If the winter weather interferes with the construction schedule, Knife River is a large enough company that they can bring in extra personnel and equipment, Farnsworth said.

Highway managers with ODOT and Sisters officials are inviting the public to an informational open house on Wednesday, January 25, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the lecture-drama room at Sisters High School.

ODOT personnel will provide exhibits of the planned roundabout, which is expected to be open by Memorial Day. Other upcoming projects include: Highway 20/Highway 126 junction - Deschutes River bridge (repaving and safety improvements, construction 2017); Highway 20 at Suttle Lake drainage (repaving, construction 2017); and Highway 20/Jack Lake Road to Pine Street in Sisters (repaving, construction 2018).

City of Sisters and ODOT staff will be available to answer questions about the projects. For construction and project information, visit: www.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/REGION4/Pages/RoadworkImprovements.aspx.
