Gail passed peacefully on Valentine’s Day after fighting her second valiant battle with cancer. Finding a brief safe harbor at Partners in Care Hospice House, she was able to spend time surrounded by her spouse Roger, family, best friend Marianne, and dog Riley.

Gail was a graduate of Oak Grove High School (San Jose, Ca.), OHSU School of Nursing, and Loyola University School of Law. She held many administrative positions including Director of Risk Management at OHSU and St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Phoenix, culminating as Chief Nursing Officer at Scott and White Medical Center, a 900-bed teaching hospital for Texas A&M University.

After ‘retiring’ in Sisters nine years ago, she facilitated inspections with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and recently became a volunteer Board Member with Habitat for Humanity.

Gail is survived by spouse of 32 years, Roger; son, Roy John (Tonya); three grandchildren, Ryan, Ava, and Roy Jr .; four sisters, Lynn, Terry, Jan, and Caryl; Riley and (‘OMG I finally got a thoroughbred’) horse, Max.

A keen equestrian throughout her life, an annual scholarship fund is being established in her name to encourage young riders.

A Celebration of Life will be announced in the near future.
