The boys lacrosse squad fell 10-5 to Bend's JV team on Wednesday, April 26, and two days later lost 23-7 on the road at Corvallis.

Sisters played against Bend's JV team on Wednesday to make the contest a better match-up. The Lava Bears' squad is loaded with players who have not only played from a very young age, but play very physical, especially with their stick checking. The Outlaws did have 12 players, so for the first time in two games they had two subs available.

The game went back and forth at the beginning, and stayed close. Bend scored one minute into the contest and a couple minutes later Mason Sellers scored to knot it up. The Lava Bears got another goal at the 9:20 mark and Sisters again responded, this time with a goal from Cooper Merrill. Bend dominated the remainder of the quarter, scored three unanswered goals, and the Outlaws entered the second quarter down 2-5.

Sisters defense tightened up in the second period, and Lex Jefferey made several nice saves in goal to hold Bend scoreless. Unfortunately, the Outlaws were not able to generate any offense on their end and entered the half down by three.

Each team tallied a goal in the third quarter, the Outlaw's score coming form Merrill just one minute into the period. Sisters got off to a good start in the final quarter as Sellers made a couple of nice dodging goals that pulled the Outlaws to within one at 5-6.

The remainder of the game didn't go well for Sisters. Bend scored four more goals, and pulled away for the win.

Sellers had a strong game for the Outlaws, finished with a hat trick, and led the team in ground balls and face-off wins.

Patton noted Jefferey in goal, who stood up to a steady barrage of shots from Bend's attack. Patton also mentioned Hunter Lea, who helped a lot on the defensive end with his willingness to get physical against opposing scoring threats.

In Friday's game at Corvallis teams traded goals early. Gus Patton scored Sisters first two goals of the game, but from that point on the Spartans dominated play and won most of the face-offs. 

Bennett Gibbons was the Spartan's face-off guy and he won 23 of the 31 face-offs, which gave them control of the ball for most of the game. Corvallis also had an attack player who scored eight goals in the game, and that combination made it rough for the Outlaws.

The Outlaws once again only had 10 players and no subs, and played to the point of exhaustion in weather that was humid, and in the upper 80s. 

Corvallis scored continuously throughout the game, put their foot on the gas in the final quarter with seven goals and recorded the win.

Patton played another good all-around game for the Outlaws and led the team in scoring and ground balls. Ethan Martin also had a solid game, particularly on defense, where he matched up against the Spartan's best player for most of the contest.

Patton finished the game with three goals, and Hayden Kunz, Kyle Pilarski, Eli Palanuk, and Ethan Martin each contributed one. 

The Outlaws were scheduled to play at home against Burns on Tuesday, May 2. They will host the annual SALI Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7.
