This spring, volunteers from Sisters Americana Project and the community gathered at Sisters Art Works and finished the renovation of the back concert lawn.

Volunteers worked all day putting the finishing touches on what is the latest and largest outdoor concert venue in Sisters. The venue received over 300 square feet of fresh sod, two swales decorated with pine trees and wildflowers and a wooden fence lined with young aspen trees.

In celebration of the venue's facelift, Sisters Folk Festival Inc. will be hosting two "Summer Concerts on the Lawn." The first show, on July 29, will be free to the public and will feature the band "Whiskey Rebellion" from Virginia.

"We want to show our gratitude to the community and our patrons by offering a free show to say thanks. Whiskey Rebellion will be a fun, upbeat bluegrass and alt country show appropriate to all ages, " says Brad Tisdel, Sisters Folk Festival executive director.

The second show, and the official Sisters Art Works kickoff, will be on August 8, and will showcase returning SFF favorite Eilen Jewell. Tickets for Eilen Jewell are available at Paulina Springs Books (Sisters and Redmond) and FootZone of Bend. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for both shows, and they both start at 6:30 p.m. Low-back chairs and blankets are requested. Sisters Art Works is located at 204 W. Adams Ave.
