Sisters’ heritage will be on display at Creekside City Park this weekend during the Sisters Western & Native American Festival.

The festival, sponsored by the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, features a Native American Village, arts and crafts booths, live music and other entertainment.

Flute maker and musician Charles Littleleaf will be a featured performer and there will be performances on both Saturday and Sunday by a contingent of dancers from the Warm Springs Reservation.

The River Lodge Singers will start the festival each day at 10 a.m. with drumming and singing in the village, which features four teepees containing art displays and native foods and wares.

On Saturday The Anvil Blasters will perform and on Sunday there will be music from Doug and Katie Cavanaugh and from Coyo.

“There will be 55 arts and crafts booths — log furniture, pottery, Native American jewelry, lots of artwork,” said Chamber Events Coordinator Jeri Buckmann.

There will be flint-knapping demonstrations, a chainsaw sculptor and more.

“That’s a lot of activity for the weekend,” Buckmann said.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Creekside City Park is located along Squaw Creek (Whychus Creek) at the east end of Sisters.
