Moved to action by a cherubic little boy's medical crisis, members of the Sisters High School Sparrow Club are on a mission. Until April 1, the students are selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the family of one-year-old Mason Fronk.

For $10, ticket buyers get a chance to win one of these donated prizes: four guest passes to Sisters Athletic club; a homemade quilt; an Adirondack chair built by an SHS student; a crocheted afghan (donated by Lorry Williams, a long-time custodian at SHS); a massage at Green Ridge Physical Therapy; a cord of firewood (donated by Kris Calvin); or a week's stay at a Sedona, Arizona condominium (donated by Kim Zadow).

Despite suffering a pediatric stroke, little Mason recently celebrated his first birthday and continues to rally. This year, the club adopted Mason as its "sparrow" and has been working throughout the school year to raise money for the Fronk Family.

"He seems really sweet-natured," said Sarah Dumolt, the club president. Dumolt, a senior at Sisters High School, helped introduce little Mason and his mother, Karissa Fronk, to the student body at a school assembly.

Sparrow members voluntarily commit to meet during lunch periods, help plan fundraisers and clock at least 10 hours of community service work. For the third year running, the Weitzman family of Sisters is sponsoring the club, donating $10 for every service hour logged.

Individuals and families from the community are encouraged to leverage their community service time to support the Fronks by filling out a voucher through the club advisor, Sally Taylor-Pillar. Anyone's volunteer time can be converted into dollars for the sparrow.

Funds raised for Mason will help take pressure off his family. Framing the mission at the heart of Sparrow Club, Dumolt said, "This can help a lot to meet the family's basic needs, so they don't have to worry as much."
