Foundation grant helps Sisters GRO

The Roundhouse Foundation has awarded Sisters Graduate Resource Organization (Sisters GRO) a grant of $10,000 for Sisters High School (SHS) Enrichment Experience Scholarships.

Betsy Leighty-Johnson, Sisters GRO Chairperson, said that Sisters GRO board of directors is honored to receive this generous contribution because of the life-changing opportunities it offers our youth.

Leighty-Johnson said that the Sisters GRO board of directors will continue its promotion of The Roundhouse Foundation Enrichment Experience Scholarships with anticipation of increasing the number of applicants this school year.

Kathy Deggendorfer, trustee of The Roundhouse Foundation, said "supporting this Sisters GRO project fits well with The Roundhouse Foundation's mission to encourage community enrichment and economic development through the arts in Central Oregon. Sisters GRO impressed me with their management and promotion of this project in 2013, consequently by offering more student experience opportunities. I have high expectations for continued positive community impact."

The experiences offered can be seminars, camps or other types of fitting activities that support a student's area of interest; sports-related or faith-based experiences will not be considered.

The experiences must have an enriching benefit to the student, pertaining to the discovery of a post-graduate career selection or aspirations and/or make a difference in the community.

Applicants must be enrolled at SHS, grades 9-12. All applicants must submit an application with essay, letter of recommendation and experience information at least one month prior to experience activity. A selection committee of SHS staff, community members and Sisters GRO board members determine recipients and scholarship award amounts.

Details of The Roundhouse Foundation Enrichment Experience Scholarships and application submission instructions are posted on the Sisters GRO website, www.sistersgro.com.
