Fire breaks out on Green Ridge

Firefighters around Central Oregon spent a busy afternoon and night responding to 39 reports of new fires Sunday after a lightning storm moved through the area. While seven of these turned out to be false alarms, 28 were quickly caught and contained.

Four fires developed into incidents.

Incident #684, the Green Ridge Fire, is burning approximately two miles northeast of Camp Sherman. The fire was estimated late on Monday morning at 20 acres and was showing some active fire behavior. Additional 20-person hand crews, helicopters and water tenders were ordered Monday to help contain the incident.
