Ron Artis II & The Truth to perform in Sisters

The second of Sisters Folk Festival's (SFF)Summer Concerts at Sisters Art Works series on Saturday, July 29 features a performance by Ron Artis II & The Truth, delivering a tidal wave of powerful music ranging from blues to R&B. Tickets are on sale for $27.50 for adults and $15 for youth 17 and under (fees included) at https://aftontickets.com/ronartis.

To say that Ron Artis II plays music from his heart and soul would be an understatement. With his family upbringing and incredible early success, you may even say it has been preordained.

While developing his multi-instrumental prowess playing in the Artis Family Band, he quickly took to piano and guitar. His mastery of both - in addition to numerous other instruments - quickly made it evident that he was special. Growing up in Oahu, HI, Artis garnered the attention of greats like Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac), Jack Johnson, and Jake Shimabukuro, eventually collaborating with each of them.

In a review of Artis' musical chops Blues & Soul Magazine said, "With a voice from heaven, a cross between Eric Bibb and Al Jarreau, a fluid guitar style, oft strumming frenetically with no plectrum, the supremely talented Artis is a joy to experience."

Artis has played sold-out shows from coast to coast alongside his band The Truth (featuring brother Stevon on drums) performing songs highlighting his influences from deep Delta Blues and Gospel, to Northern Soul and R&B, with in-depth and personal lyrics.

Also performing in the Summer Concerts at Sisters Art Works series is Rainbow Girls on Saturday, August 19. SFF will host a free concert – dubbed the Sisters Hometown Hang – as part of the series on Friday, August 11 to celebrate local music with performances from Skillethead, Quattlebaum, Beth Wood & Dennis McGregor, and Skybound Blue.
