Navigating the Dementia Journey

Weekly Food Pantry

The Wellhouse Church hosts a weekly food pantry Thursdays at 3 p.m. at 222 N. Trinity Way. Both drive-through pick-up and shopping-style distribution are available. Info: 541-549-4184.

Free Weekly Meal Service

Free Lunches for Seniors

For those 60+, the Council on Aging of Central Oregon offers a fun, no-cost social lunch every Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sisters Community Church, 1300 McKenzie Hwy. No reservations needed. No-cost Grab-N-Go lunches take place weekly on Wed. and Thurs., from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Call 541-797-9367.

Central Oregon Federated Republican Meeting

COFRW (Central Oregon Federated Republican Women) meets the first Thursday of every month from 10:45 a.m. (registration) to 1 p.m. at Aspen Lakes Golf Club in Sisters. Community Conversation About Houselessness

On Sunday, October 6, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., join this learning and input-gathering session to hear how partners are working with the houseless, and to hear ideas, concerns, and questions from community members. Meeting at the new Sisters Elementary School, 2155 W. McKinney Butte Rd. Participating partners: Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Sisters Cold Weather Shelter, Sisters Community Leadership Initiative, Family Access Network, and more. Furry Friends Volunteers Needed

Bike Park 242 Winterization

Bike Park 242 is seeking used tarps. Tarps can be any size or thickness, heavy-duty, weather-proof, typically made from vinyl or polyethylene. Used billboard vinyl tarps from company banner/advertisements are ideal for draping over dirt jumps to preserve them from the freeze-thaw cycles over the winter season. Sisters Garden Club has Garden Journals that are available for $15 at Paulina Springs Books & The Gallimaufry here in Sisters. Silent Echo Theater Auditions

Auditions for Silent Echo Theater Company's production of "What The Dickens: A Christmas Carol for Any Scrooge" will take place Sunday, October 13 and Monday, October 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sisters Community Church. The cast consists of seven to eight actors playing a variety of characters. No preparation is required. Sides will be provided the night of auditions. Living Well With Dementia Sisters Support Groups

Living Well now offers two support groups. A support group for the care partners and family of those diagnosed with some form of dementia meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 1-2:30 p.m. at Sisters Senior Living, 411 E. Carpenter Ln. A support group for the person diagnosed with some form of dementia in the early stages meets the same days and times, also at The Lodge. Info: 541-647-0052.

Matt's Way Charity Gala

Matt's Way was started to raise awareness, and provide support and resources for alternative treatments for neurodegenerative disease, such as ALS. Join Matt's Way at a charity gala at Pole Creek Ranch on Saturday, October 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. Dinner, drinks, entertainment, and a silent auction will be included. Outlaws Drop-In Tennis

Outlaws tennis is hosting free drop-in tennis on Saturdays, through October 26, from 10 a.m. to noon. These are not lessons, but a fun time to play the great game of tennis. Sessions are open to the Sisters community, boys and girls ages 10 and up, and adults. Held at Sisters Middle School tennis courts. Donations are accepted, but not required.
